Note: Project On Hand requires HanDBase database application from DDH Software. A demo version of HanDBase is available at www.ddhsoftware.com |
Projects On Hand is a cross-platform database solution designed to provide professional translators with an easy-to-use, yet flexible project management tool. The current version of Projects On Hand is aimed at translation and copywriting agencies as well as freelance translators. Projects On Hand provides an instant overview of essential project data such as customer information, current status, deadline, pricing etc. Projects On Hand consists of five modules: Projects, Customers, Suppliers, Project phases and Pricing. All four modules are highly customisable, and allow users to build solutions which suit their particular needs. Projects On Hand is the main module designed to provide users with essential info on a particular project. The Customers module provides essential data on the customer assigned to the project. This includes Company, Department, Branch, Contact person, and Address. The Customers module is linked to the Projects database via the Customer field. The Suppliers module provides essential data on suppliers (in this case translators and proofreaders) assigned to the project. This includes Company, Department, Branch, Contact person, and Address. The Suppliers module is linked to the Projects database via the Assigned to and Proof fields. The Pricing module provides an overview of the financial aspects of a project. In this case, the pricing model is based on a price pr. unit scheme where one unit is a word. Project phases allows users to define different project phases and the degree of their completion. While the Status field states the general status of the project, the Project phases module allows users to describe the progress in more detail. Projects On Hand runs on desktop PC (Windows 95/98/ME/XP/2000), Palm OS compatible devices and Pocket PC computers. Users can syncronize projects data between a desktop PC and a handheld. Moreover the projects can be beamed from one handheld to another. |
